Night Sea Voyage

Painting, Sculpture, Sound

30th January - 1st February 2026: HOLD Creative Spaces, Ramsgate, UK

Informed by the ancient Greek rituals of nekyia and katabasis, Night Sea Voyage represents a descent into the underworld and the unconscious. Travelling by visual and sonic structures to navigate obscure places, ancestors are summoned for guidance on a dark passage to insight.

A series of 12 abstract paintings nailed onto suspended wooden masts tell a story of resolving loss and intergenerational injustice. Sailing through time and space against a nocturnal backdrop embellished with multiple limpet sculptures - stars, ancestral ghosts and talismans light the way to the past and the dead, as well as the self and the future.

In collaboration with sound artist, André Dack, each painting is paired with its own musical composition, designed to complement rather than distract. The pieces share a consistent sonic character - intentionally restrained, with an emphasis on ghostly drones that suggest lost, lingering spirits. They are driven more by feeling and texture than melody or harmony, acting as emotional responses to the paintings where mood takes priority.

Dreamer of Pictures

Abstract Paintings

1st - 30th April 2025: Vincent’s, Ramsgate, UK

Painting is for me an embodied practice in which the mind follows the body’s instructions. These are transported through memory, dreaming and emotion to the imagination, where the visual structures of abstraction and colour field bring forth works that explore themes of consciousness, reality and experience. The paintings in this collection were made during a summer season of exploring artistic practice as intuitive enquiry: making as an act of knowing, knowing through the act of making. These works represent not only my process of discovery, but also an arrival at a deeper sense of myself as a dreamer and maker of pictures.
